The first is a mosque being build in Folsom, which will, according to today's Bee article (located on the front page of today's paper - also online here: http://tinyurl.com/7f8yb) be approximately 70 feet tall.
The second is the tower currently under construction near AeroJet General's property. It's being built by the Mormon church. Here are a couple of pictures.

FYI, I've sent some email to the Sacramento Bee reporter jdowning@sacbee.com, as well as the Mormon Church via their website http://www.lds.org/newsroom/feedback/1,15329,3884-1,00.html.
I urge you to do the same!

FYI, here's the letter I sent to the Mormon Church:
Hello,
I represent an organization called the Friends of Arden Bluffs. Our mission is to protect the community enviroment of Lake Natoma and the surrounding community in which we live. Many of us live on the bluffs overlooking Lake Natoma within sight of the construction project in Rancho Cordova.
I'm writing because we have noticed that your church is building a temple in Rancho Cordova, which is quite visible from our community. We would very much appreciate knowing how you are planning on mitigating the visual impact of the structure, since the tower is well above the tree line.

Also, we have a website and a blog dedicated to our community:
